Stage 4 Breast Cancer

Stage 4

Stage 4 describes invasive cancer that has spread to other distant parts of the body such as brain, bones, liver, lungs, distant lymph nodes or combination of any of these. This is also called secondary or metastatic breast cancer.

Cancer can be staged as stage 4 at first diagnosis but in most cases it is a recurrence of previous breast cancer usually after many months or years following the original cancer diagnosis and treatment.
